This is the first installment of the "producers corner". Here we will talk about all the gear we use and how we use it. We always get loads of questions about our studio setup. This will be the place where we tell it all..
For our first post we have chosen one of the coolest pieces of software out there : FXpansion's GURU.
GURU is a drum machine, an MPC style sampler, FX box, recycle type cut up tool and more...
One of the key features of GURU is "Smartslice" : Not only does it slice up your beats, it also magically figures out which slice is a kick, a snare, a hihat or percussion. This way it turns a beat into a drum kit that you can use with your own patterns.
We had been searching for a more intuitive and creative way to build beats. It was one of those moments were you think : if only someone would build a tool that could do this and that and also that and that... GURU turned out to be exactly what we were looking for.
Next week I'll post a video here of GURU is action, but for now go check out the interview we did with the good folks at FXpansion about the way we use GURU.

Hi! my friends
(I am Andres Alzate from Colombia).
I was using "Guru", and is very good... but I have the same question... I was recording the Drum Sounds of "Guru" with "SoundForge" and after I slice them, because I have not found another way.
I Bought "Blue sky Happiness", It have a lot of Good Groove.
Thank you for this "Producers Corner".
Bye!
